Supports and maintains local area network/wireless services, infrastructure, and servers. Monitors internet and network performance. Troubleshoot and deploy solutions for disruptions/outages based on diagnosis. Performs routine system/software updates and maintenance tasks. Repair or replace network and wireless related hardware components as needed. Configures and installs system applications, VLAN printers, servers, routers, bridges, switches, UPS, modems, cabling, access points and supports internet service for Bexley and Law campuses. Works with service providers to resolve network, Wi-Fi and bandwidth issues, project installations and maintain network health. Maintain internal and external DNS naming standards, IP assignments including static IP management, DHCP scopes, IP reservations, and distributed IP printing. Duties and Responsibilities: Supports Cisco enterprise network infrastructure performance with focus on deploying solutions, management of campus wireless LAN/WAN systems, data center networking, and IP services. Identify and resolve performance problems, failures, and other issues that arise. Mitigate root causes of service interruptions. Support and maintain enterprise wireless system (802.11) including WAP configuration, monitoring, fault isolation, and wireless security. Configure, install, and maintain network security, including internet firewalls, network segmentation, intrusion prevention systems, and campus IP security cameras. Works with support vendors and business partners in implementation of resolutions. Manage and monitor bandwidth requirements for Law and Bexley campus. Works with internet service providers to sustain bandwidth health and infrastructure including data circuits, SIP trunks and core. Make recommendations for upgrades as necessary. Respond to DMCA copyright infringement notices, following University policy procedures. Provide 3rd level support for IT technical requests. Responds to user inquiries and requests and provides technical assistance/resolutions via IT ticketing system. Backup assist with support of the campus telephone system as needed including VoIP and analog (2-wire). Develops and implements policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, usage, support, security, and backup. Updates documentation to record new equipment installed, new sites, and changes to computer configurations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, network administration or information technology from a four-year college or university; or three years of direct related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling three years. Experience supporting a Cisco networking environment. Higher Education work experience is a plus. Motor vehicle license and MCSE are desired. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with Windows server administration; strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, internet and network troubleshooting/support; experience administrating firewalls, switches, routing, storage areas, cabling and wireless access networks; willingness to learn new technologies. Ability to work professionally with others as part of a team with excellent verbal and written skills; must be time flexible as service outages and emergencies may require working evenings and weekends with little advance notice; attention to detail; work with little supervision and demonstrate considerable initiative. Able to work well with men and women from diverse backgrounds; manage multiple priorities and projects under tight deadlines; hands on field experience with maintenance of structured cabling systems including installation, termination, and testing of network cabling.
