Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for post award grant accounting including monthly invoicing, maintaining compliance with funding source guidelines, accurate submission of financial reports, follow up on timely receipt of revenue, maintaining communication with funding sources as appropriate and preparation of certain other financial reports. Direct Report: Controller Supervisory Level: None Duties/Responsibilities: Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports by due dates Review expenses charged to grants for conformity to budget and funding source guidelines. Attend meetings and advise Program Directors on financial aspects of grant awards such as grant balances, billing issues and re-budget requirements. Reconcile, monitor and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable invoices. Prepare general journal entries as necessary. Serve as back-up to other Finance staff as needed. Perform other duties as directed by the Controller. Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient in use of accounting software and other office technology tools Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and grant compliance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks both effectively and efficiently. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times. Physical Demands: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Stand less than 33% of time on Walk less than 33% of time on Sit between 33% and 66% of time on Use of hands to finger, handle or feel over 66% of time on Reach with hands or arms less than 33% of time . Full ability to talk and Correctable vision Able to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. Minimum Educational and General Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least two years of professional level experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting with at least one year experience with federal, state and/or private grants. Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) a plus.
