Idaho Conservation Corps - AmeriCorps 680 HR Individual Placement U.S. Forest Service Payette National Forest McCall Ranger District - McCall, Idaho Position Title: Forestry Technician AmeriCorps Member - 680 Hour Position Summary: The Payette National Forest, McCall Ranger District is recruiting two 680 Hour Forestry Technician AmeriCorps Members beginning May through September 2023. The members will assist the trails program on the New Meadows and McCall Ranger Districts. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will include trail maintenance, condition surveys to collect data for deferred maintenance, and other recreation program tasks. Trail maintenance such as brushing, log out, cleaning drainage features, reconstructing trail tread (50%) Field data collection, condition surveys (25%) Developed recreation site maintenance (25%) Required Qualifications: Willingness to work as part of a small team Current driver's license. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work outdoors in remote settings and inclement and all types of weather on uneven ground Desired Qualifications: Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs Physical fitness, ability to hike long distances in challenging terrain Duty Location: Duties are performed within McCall and New Meadows Ranger Districts, Payette National Forest. Housing may be provided Terms of Employment : One AmeriCorps member will complete a term of service (length dependent on commitment of hours), starting May through September 2023. The member must complete a minimum of 680 service hours by the end of their term. The member will receive a 30-minute lunch each day and this lunch break does not count towards AmeriCorps member service hours. Training will not exceed 20% of total member service hours. Program Benefits : A $7650 living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis and a $2474.27 education award upon completion of the 680 hours of service. The living allowance and education award are taxable. Members are responsible for providing their own food. Service eligibility is contingent upon the results of a criminal and driving background check.
