Position: Janitor Reports to: Driver Services/Facilities Supervisor Salary: $15.75 per hour Position Type: Full-time/Hourly FLSA: Non-exempt Location: Kilburn Ave Supervision Exercised: None Job Summary: Keep all areas of building clean and in an orderly manner. Keep School Street garage clean. Work with Facilities Supervisor on any extra tasks, some lawn care, snow removal, moving items, and other assigned duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned. Responsibilities: Keep the building clean (vacuum, trash removal, entry areas, windows/glass cleaned, and counter tops. Clean bathroom: keep bathrooms stocked with paper products and soap. Clean breakroom Sweep and mop the kitchen, packing area and breakroom Pick up trash outside In summer, sweep walkways In winter, shovel walkways Daily laundry Keep janitorial closet stocked and clean Other duties assigned Essential Functions: Must be able to work independently Must be able to see what needs to be done to keep the building clean and able to perform given tasks Must have time management and organizational skills Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds daily Must be able to drive and understand directions Must be able to follow oral and written instructions Must be able to operate vacuum, leaf blower, weedwhacker, snow blower, washer, and dryer. Must be able to adapt to schedule changes and unforeseen circumstances Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Minimum Requirements Must be 21 years of age Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and own transportation with current insurance coverage. Not have been convicted within 3 years if the date of application of any of the following offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle: Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs (DUI), reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, drag racing, manslaughter, reckless homicide, reckless conduct. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with older persons with sight and hearing impairments, and persons with a variety of economic, social, and cultural backgrounds with an emphasis on seniors. Must be able to perform essential functions of positions. Must be able to work nights and weekends, as needed. Education and Experience: Highschool Graduate 2 years' experience in janitorial work Must be able to read and understand English
