Responsible for the coordination of the activities of non-professional staff as they relate to the health of the people residing in the facility. • Administration of treatments, medications, and other care which requires the expertise of a professional Registered Nurse. May include, but is not limited to, starting IVs, phlebotomy, monitoring newly post-operative patients, tube feeding, and oxygen therapy. Confers closely with physicians whenever the condition of the individual warrants further assessment or intervention. Participates in crisis intervention to prevent hospitalization or re-hospitalization. Maintains adequate documentation in residential log daily, as needed in progress notes, daily report and any other required documentation to provide clear communication to other staff. Establishes and maintains the currency of a comprehensive assessment of nursing needs from which a nursing care plan is developed. Using the knowledge gained from the assessment, participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the planning and implementation of treatments/programs for individual patients.
