Credit Union of Denver Job Description Title: Loan Officer (Bilingual) Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Financial Services Manager Position Purpose: Assist members with opening all types of accounts offered by Credit Union of Denver. Interview applicants in person and by phone for consumer and real estate loans. Assertively cross-sell credit union products and services. Essential Duties: Provide enthusiastic, professional and courteous service to all Credit Union of Denver members. Solicit and interview members in person and by phone for all consumer and real estate loan products while adhering to Credit Union of Denver guidelines. Responsible for gathering all pertinent member information and materials required for submission of a complete loan application to underwriting and closing teams. Ability to analyze credit reports to identify potential cross-selling opportunities and demonstrate assertiveness in cross-selling additional appropriate products and services. Recommend financial alternatives and additional products and services to the membership as needed. Submit recommendations to underwriters on loan requests as required. Act as an advocate for members working to build a loan to benefit both the credit union and member. Consult, discuss and advise members regarding their depository and investment accounts. Open depository products. Demonstrate sound judgment ensuring proper credit decisions to protect the Credit Union and contribute to loan growth. Answer member inquiries about new accounts, loans, and other new products and services in a timely and member centric manner. Notify members of lending decision including approvals, counteroffers, and denials. Responsible for maintaining valid up to date registration as a mortgage loan originator under the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System. Required to attend a minimum of two trade shows and one Credit Union of Denver event per calendar year. Responsible for compliance with the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Act, including monitoring for any illegal activity as it applies to this position. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Education: Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study. Work experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience. Experience with on-line data processing system preferred. Knowledge: Requires thorough understanding of financial products and services. Skills and mental abilities: (with or without accommodation) Good oral and written communication skills. Legible handwriting, tact and diplomacy. Able to maintain confidentiality. Analytical ability required. Possess initiative to resolve problems with good judgment. Works independently. Demonstrates the ability to cross sell. Material and equipment used: PC, telephone/voice mail system, typewriter, fax machine, ten-key calculator, and photocopier. Work environment: Office environment. Physical activity and abilities: (with or without accommodation) Requires manual coordination and vision to operate PC, typewriter and calculator. Hearing necessary to receive and reply to member and employee inquiries. Ability to speak clearly in order to communicate with members and employees in person and on the telephone. Must be able to work in a sitting position for long periods of time. Some bending, stooping, reaching and lifting (up to 20 pounds) is required.
