A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CUSTODIAN This is not your typical Custodian position , here's why: SCHEDULE If you're a night owl the schedule of 4:00 pm to 12:30 am Monday thru Friday works perfectly for you with 12 paid holidays off . As the evening shift custodian you'll need to be comfortable working alone, being a self starter and completing tasks on time. FULL TIME WITH BENEFITS Not many custodian positions are full time with benefits but this position is! Imagine having all of the amazing benefits offered by Davis County. This is a physical job, you'll be moving your body the majority of the time. This custodian position is rare, you won't be cleaning toilets and emptying trash cans! The majority of your work will be deep cleaning of buildings including floor restoration which includes carpet, LVT, ceramic tile, wood, stone/marble and slate. You'll learn how to operate various flooring equipment and power machines. Plus, you'll become an expert on cleaning chemicals and cleaners and the proper procedures of floor care. QUALIFICATIONS This is an entry level position with no education and experience necessary! If you have current custodian experience you will be paid for it. Full Job Description: Custodian I, II GENERAL PURPOSE Under close supervision from an administrative superior, performs routine cleaning work. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes and buffs floors; dusts, empties trash cans, cleans windows and rest rooms; maintains building entrances. Clears debris from sidewalks and parking lots.Performs minor maintenance and repairs as requested or assigned; replaces lamps and light bulbs.Carries out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.Operates custodial power tools and cleaning equipment.Operates a motor vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all Utah laws and regulations.Operates a computer to check emails, calendar events, track or add work assignments, and make timesheet updates.Performs related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience:Level I: This is an entry level position requiring no minimum amount of education or experience.Level II: Two (2) years of experience as a custodian or related work experience. Preference given for experience cleaning office buildings. 2. Special Qualifications: Employees driving a personal or a County vehicle for job related travel must possess a valid driver license, maintain the minimum vehicle liability insurance as specified in the Utah Code, and must operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner; new employees with an out-of-state license must obtain a valid Utah Driver License within sixty (60) days of hire date (exceptions for military personnel and their dependents). 3. Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of cleaning methods and custodial supplies, tools, and equipment.This position may require the driving of a motor vehicle; skill in operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner; ability to insure motor vehicle is operating in a safe manner; knowledge of Utah motor vehicle rules and regulations. Ability to: read well enough to understand and follow instructions related to cleaning solutions; properly use cleaning solutions/chemicals, custodial tools and equipment; follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing); establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees and the general public.
