Talent Overview: We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Senior Buyer in Clinton Township, MI with automotive interior trim experience. In this role, you will be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for our automotive business that will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating and maintaining an inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. The Buyer will work with product development staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous. Job Summary: Ability to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better opportunities, and find more best in class suppliers. Primarily focuses on negotiating contracts, processing purchase orders, evaluating data and supplier management. Responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. General understanding of purchasing policies and procedures, purchasing related laws, agency, legal and ethical obligations. Key Responsibilities: Working knowledge of supplier terms and conditions, ability to negotiate (tactics, techniques, and strategies). Working knowledge of how supply strategies fit into corporate strategies. Evaluate cost breakdowns to identify opportunities to reduce overall costs. Target cost book management. Impact of time value of money calculations. Execute commodity strategies to support the product development team. Able to communicate effectively. Good time management and effectively works as a part team. Research, select and purchase quality products and materials. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders. Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions. Manage supplier statements of work. Requirements & Qualification: Proven working experience as a buyer within the automotive industry. 5+ years of relevant experience in related field. Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related field. Automotive interior trim experience is required. Excellent computer and software skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint). Critical thinking and negotiation skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. PLEX ERP system experience is desired. Must be open to some travel.
