At the Department of Public Works (DPW), we manage 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges across Nova Scotia as well as 2,400 buildings. We also support community and active transportation – connecting people and their communities. In the Policy and Planning Division at DPW, we are responsible for administering community and active transportation programs, as well as recommendations and proposals that impact road safety and the economic well being of the transportation industry, and the shippers who rely on it, both within the province and between the province and its various national and international markets. We’re seeking an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is keen to contribute innovative ideas. About Our Opportunity Reporting to the Director Policy and Legislation , as the Manager of Policy (Research and Engagement), you will lead the policy development support at the Department of Public Works as well as provide policy leadership, project management, and high-quality analysis to support informed decision-making on the Department’s priorities. You will also be responsible for managing a team of Policy Analysts. Primary Accountabilities As the Manager of Policy (Research and Engagement), you will be responsible for broad policy analysis with a focus on the department's overall mandate. This position plays a critical role for the Policy and Planning Division. You will be responsible for working with a team of policy analysts to enhance departmental operations by leading the provision of sound policy advice in the development and implementation of policy initiatives on a broad range of departmental issues based.
