Responsibilities: Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory Create new recipes/plan menu – Caribbean cuisine Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for restaurants and catering events Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances Recruit and hire staff Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food Be able to supervise team of 5-10 persons Qualifications: Previous experience working in the food industry as a chef or cook -Experience preparing Jamaican meals an asset Strong knowledge of food safety practices and procedures -Secondary (high) school graduation certificate/diploma Excellent team management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team Proficient in food preparation techniques and cooking methods Strong communication skills, both verbal and written -Ability to work in hot or cold/refrigerated areas Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and efficiency Combination of sitting, standing, walking bending as well as crouching and kneeling Please note that this job description is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
