The City of Penticton's Water Treatment Plant is in search of a highly motivated and energetic individual for the full-time temporary (2 months) position of Water Treatment Plant Operator II. The City of Penticton's Water Treatment Division is a subsidiary of the Engineering Department and is responsible for the operation of the water treatment plant, water booster stations and water reservoirs. Under the general direction of the Water Quality Supervisor, the Water Treatment Plant Operator II p erforms highly-skilled operational and maintenance work of a complex nature under the supervision of the Water Quality Supervisor or Water Treatment Foreman. Work involves performing operational and maintenance duties in order to maintain water quality that meets or exceeds all compliance criteria outlined in City's Permit and Provincial and/or Canadian Drinking Water Legislation. The position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the City's water treatment and water supply systems ensuring the production and delivery of safe, potable drinking water. Key Responsibilities: Monitors the water distribution SCADA system through observation of gauges, meters, and control panels to establish accurate system demand requirements and makes adjustments in plant production rates accordingly, maintaining control of flow, chemical feed rates, processing of water, residuals, and finished water effluent. Visually inspects plant and all equipment daily to ensure proper functioning, trouble shoots sophisticated control systems, and takes corrective action when required.
