We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newry to assist with the appointment of a Driver LGV , on a 2-month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Summary: Working within the Environmental Cleansing Service (Refuse Collection), the post holder will be required to provide, in a safe and effective manner, a quality and efficient Refuse Collection Service including all recycling collection activities, in all weather conditions. The post holder, as Team Leader, will be expected to interact with the public in an appropriate manner and within own initiative to ensure service is provided within the area of responsibility of the post holder. The post holder may be required to drive any vehicle requiring a LGV Category C class of licence, providing relevant training has been provided. The post holder will also be responsible for staff supervised on a day to day basis. Responsibilities: Clean up spillage, loose refuse and litter debris in any area whether arising from skip collection operation or refuse collection and disposal of waste in an appropriate manner at designated disposal point. Take note of any premises that appear to have a refuse storage and/or prevention problem and alert the Refuse Supervisor in this regard. Report bins damaged or not emptied in accordance with procedure, giving necessary detail relating to same. Affix detail to bin affected. In the event of any lost bin, notify Supervisor to daily report sheet. Responsible for the use of radio communications equipment assigned to the vehicle, in accordance with Road Traffic Legislation. Notify the occupants of premises as to any change as to collection arrangements through agreed systems that are currently in operation.
